Solskjear faces delimma as pogba, martial and shaw remain sidelined for the match agianst west ham due to injury

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Luke Shaw will miss Manchester United’s Premier League fixture with West Ham United on Sunday, while revealing three other first-team players are doubts.

Shaw has missed the last three games with a hamstring injury and the boss has admitted he will not return in time for the trip to the London Stadium.

Ole also told reporters after Thursday's FC Astana match that Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial look set to miss the encounter through respective knocks
James was one of nine players who started against the Foxes last weekend but were absent from the XI for the midweek Europe League victory over FC Asatana.

However, on Sunday, Ole is expected to revert to a similar side to the one which began the clash with Leicester, with Andreas Pereira and Aaron Wan-Bissaka among the players who could return.

The boss told MUTV: “Andreas and Aaron trained today [Thursday] so they should be ready and the rest of them were on the bench.”

David De Gea and Victor Lindelof - who both signed contract extensions during the week - are likely to be back in the starting XI, along with the likes of Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay. When asked if he thought the French duo would be available for the clash with the Hammers, Ole replied: “Not really, no. They have not been training yet.

“Luke won’t be ready,” he added.

The Norwegian also gave an update on winger Daniel James, who picked up an ankle problem in last week’s victory over Leicester City.

“I don’t know [if he'll be fit],” Ole conceded. “[He’s] not trained for the past few days. Hopefully he will, but we're not sure. We will have a recovery day tomorrow [Friday] and see on Saturday.”

Bayern Munich part ways with Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti has been sacked by Bayern Munich after their 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions league, according to Sky sources.

The club's Board members held a meeting to discuss Ancelotti's future on Thursday afternoon and according to reports he has now left the Bavarians.

The former Real madrid manager had been in charge at the Allianz Arena for nearly 15 months after taking over as Pep Guardiola's successor in July 2016.

Ancelotti led Bayern to their fifth consecutive Bundesliga title in his first season in charge but his side were eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the Champions League against his former club Real Madrid, while they were beaten 3-2 by Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal Cup.

Ancelotti had come under fire  after a 2-0 defeat to Hoffenheim in the early stages of the season, which was later followed by a 2-2 home draw against Wolfsburg but the icing on the cake was  PSG's emphatic 3-0 thrashing in the champions league group stage Yesterday.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge talked of "consequences" after the defeat to PSG.

"It's a loss we have to talk about, we have to analyse, from which we have to draw consequences in clear text form," Rummenigge told FCBayern.tv.

"I think what we saw this evening was not Bayern Munich. I think we all agree on that."

If I take a look to the right or left, then there is nothing to misunderstand or to interpret wrong. I think it's important to turn things around after this loss, to present as Bayern Munich and to show we are a team, [the one] which performed well in Europe and in Germany last year. That's where we have to continue.

"Bayern have made an unconvincing start to the season.

Ancelotti was forced to defend his team selection after the defeat having left Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Mats Hummels on the bench, while Jerome Boateng was not included in the squad.

"I don't think my team selection was risky," he said.

"I thought a lot about what the best team to play was.

"I know I will get criticism, that's fine. I thought it was a good line-up for this game."

Real Madrid outclass Barca to win Super Copa

A listless first-half performance ended any hope of a Barcelona comeback in the Supercopa de Espana, the Catalans falling to a 2-0 second-leg defeat to lose 5-1 on aggregate against Real Madrid.

Marco Asensio wasted no time as he spectacularly fired the home side in front after four minutes on Wednesday, with Madrid dominating a team still adapting to life after Neymar.

Barca found goal-scoring opportunities hard to come by and Karim Benzema outwitted Samuel Umtiti to double Madrid's lead on the night shortly before half-time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Barcelona improved after the interval – Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez both hit the woodwork – but their Neymar-less future remains a concerning work in progress for new boss Ernesto Valverde, as the club continue their pursuit of a suitable and - on this evidence - much-needed replacement. Those efforts may take on greater urgency after Suarez appeared to hobble through the closing stages.

The Portugal star came off the bench to blast home the third goal of the visitors' 3-1 win at Camp Nou but earned a second yellow card for going to ground in the penalty area two minutes later, having earlier been booked for taking his shirt off in celebration.

Zinedine Zidane's side took the lead early in the second half through an own goal from Gerard Pique but Barca levelled thanks to Lionel Messi's penalty, which was won in controversial fashion by Luis Suarez.

Ronaldo put Madrid back ahead with a spectacular strike but was dismissed within two minutes of that goal and risked further punishment when he pushed the referee in the back before departing the field.

Barca pushed for a second equaliser late on but were undone by Marco Asensio's brilliant strike on the break, meaning they have it all to do at the Santiago Bernabeu next Wednesday in the first Supercopa tie between these sides since 2012.
